TAHA and PASS sign MOU to guarantee Farmers' Loans

Recently TAHA entered into a Partnership Framework Agreement (PFA) with PASS to guarantee loans that are taken by horticulture stakeholders from more than 15 banks which have contract with PASS. Speaking during the MOU signing event, PASS Director Mr. Nicomed Bohay said, "TAHA was a natural choice because they have a wider network of active farmers who are ready to take loans from banks" TAHA CEO Ms. Jacqueline Mkindi explained that, despite the fast growth of horticulture sector, the industry is still challenged by accessibility of affordable loans. "We are working with financial institutions towards coming up with loan products that will enable farmers to access affordable loans with fair conditions." Ms. Mkindi concluded that, The PFA between TAHA and PASS will not only benefit small-holder farmers, but all the value chain actors in horticulture subsector, and this include farmers, processors, and agro-input dealers.
